Vertical Lathe

Vertical Turning Lathe

Heavy-duty VTL designed for machining large diameter circular components such as flanges, turbine housings, and pump casings with superior stability.

VTL (Vertical Turning Lathe) for machining large diameter, heavy-duty circular components such as flanges and turbine housings

Typical Applications

  • Turning and boring of large-diameter valve bodies, turbine casings, and pump housings in power and process industries.

  • Machining of heavy, asymmetrical castings and fabrications that are impractical or unsafe to mount on horizontal lathes.

  • Shipyard machining of stern frames, propeller bosses, and large marine housings.

  • Defence and heavy engineering workshops for vehicle hubs, armour components, and large flanges.

  • Fabrication and maintenance shops handling large base plates, rings, and structural components.

Machine Description

  • • Double-column VTL for machining large-diameter, high-mass components where vertical mounting is structurally advantageous.
  • • Rotary table supports the workpiece under gravity, improving stability when handling heavy or unbalanced parts.
  • • Rigid double-column structure with cross rail and ram provides balanced load paths and resistance to deflection.
  • • Cast iron machine structure (IS:210) ensures damping and long-term geometric stability under heavy cutting loads.
  • • Motorised cross rail and ram movement allow controlled positioning across the machine’s working height.
  • • Vertical layout simplifies loading and clamping of large components using overhead handling equipment.

Accuracy

  • ● Roundness (Turret/Ram/Side Head): 0.02mm / 300mm diameter
  • ● Flatness (Facing): 0.02mm / 300mm diameter (Concave only)

Configuration Notes

  • 1. Actual capability depends on workpiece mass and clamping, not just diameter.
  • 2. Configurable with additional ram heads, turret heads, or side heads.
  • 3. Milling and special operations evaluated per duty cycle requirements.
