Project Context
A greenfield integrated iron and steel plant required a mechanical workshop capable of supporting heavy fabrication, repair activities, and ongoing plant maintenance from the start of operations.
The workshop was intended to function as a core plant asset, handling large components and fabrication loads typical of integrated steel-plant operations.
Parksons’ Role
Parksons provided a mechanical workshop configured specifically for heavy fabrication and forming work, aligned with steel-plant duty cycles, component sizes, and operating load conditions.
Scope of Delivery
Machine Supply & Configuration
Parksons supplied fourteen core workshop machines as part of the plant’s mechanical workshop package.
The machine mix was selected and configured to support heavy fabrication duties, including forming, bending, and structural work commonly required in steel plants.
Key machines supplied included a 200 Ton C-Frame Press, a 135 Ton Iron Worker, and a 400 Ton × 3 metre Hydraulic Press Brake.
Engineering & Coordination
In addition to machine supply, Parksons covered layout coordination and provided foundation-related inputs to ensure compatibility with site conditions and handling requirements.
Quality assurance documentation was prepared in line with consultant requirements, and execution was carried out within a consultant-led project framework involving structured inspections and formal documentation.
Client Outcome
The plant gained an in-house mechanical workshop capable of handling heavy fabrication and repair work aligned with integrated steel plant operations.
This reduced dependence on external vendors during commissioning and routine operation, improving responsiveness, control over fabrication quality, and long-term maintainability of plant equipment.
