Guillotine Shearing Machine

Hydraulic guillotine shear for accurate and repeatable straight-line cutting of heavy metal plates.

Hydraulic guillotine shear for accurate and repeatable straight-line cutting of heavy metal plates

Typical Applications

  • Straight shearing of mild steel (MS) plates for fabrication and maintenance workshops.

  • Plate cutting for tanks, ducts, enclosures, and structural parts in power, cement, and steel plants.

  • Stock preparation in shipyards, railways, defence workshops, and EPC fabrication yards.

  • General-purpose plate shearing where reliability, cut quality, and serviceability are important considerations.

Machine Description

  • • The Hydraulic Shearing Machine is a guillotine-type shear designed for accurate, repeatable plate cutting under shop-floor conditions.
  • • Rigid, welded steel frame designed to withstand continuous cutting loads with minimal deflection.
  • • Hydraulic hold-down system ensures uniform clamping across the cutting width, reducing sheet movement during shear.
  • • Pre-calibrated manual blade clearance adjustment for burr-free cutting across a range of plate thicknesses.
  • • Hardened and ground four-edge interchangeable top and bottom blades suitable for MS plates.
  • • Robust back gauge supported on hardened guides for repeatable length control.
  • • Powerful electrical and hydraulic systems designed for ease of operation and long-term maintenance.

Machine Selection Guide

Material Thickness Rake Angle Effect on Machine & Cut Quality
Thick plates (near max capacity) High rake angle Reduces cutting force, protects hydraulics and the frame, allows higher thickness to be cut safely.
Nominal / regular production thickness Mid (nominal) rake angle Balanced operation — optimal capacity, stable cutting, long machine life.
Thin plates / strips Low rake angle Minimises material twisting (“corkscrewing”), improves straightness and cut accuracy.

Configuration Notes

  • Cutting capacities are rated for mild steel with UTS 42 kg/mm².
  • Higher thicknesses, wider beds, and customised configurations are available on request.
  • Actual capacity depends on plate width, material grade, and blade condition.
  • Choose a machine where your most frequently cut thickness lies at the nominal (mid) rake angle.
  • This provides capacity headroom for thicker plates and precision control for thinner material.

Accessories

  • • Finger safety photo-sensor guard.
  • • Motorised back gauge with digital readout (DRO).
  • • Hydraulic rear sheet support for thin and wide sheets.
  • • Squaring arm with scale.
