Typical Applications
-
Rough grinding and edge finishing operations in fabrication shops.
-
Fettling of small and medium foundry components where swing-frame grinders are impractical.
-
Tool sharpening and reconditioning in steel and cement plant maintenance workshops.
-
General utility grinding for deburring, chamfering, and edge preparation in shipyards, railway workshops, and defence plants.
-
These machines are typically deployed as shop-floor utility grinders, operating continuously under rough conditions.
Machine Description
Machine Description
- • Machine body and base manufactured from high-grade grey cast iron (IS:210), providing inherent vibration damping during aggressive grinding.
- • Power transmission from motor to spindle through fully enclosed V-belt drive, protecting the drive system from dust, scale, and debris.
- • Case-hardened and ground high-tensile steel spindle, maintaining run-out accuracy within 5 microns for stable wheel behaviour.
- • Heavy machine mass allows consistent grinding pressure without wheel bounce or excessive vibration.
- • Supplied with Aluminium Oxide (vitrified) grinding wheels as standard, suitable for general steel grinding and tool sharpening.
- • These grinders are selected for robust construction, operational stability, and safe performance under continuous industrial use, not for precision grinding work.

Configuration Notes
- Heavy duty pedestal grinders are engineered for sustained grinding loads, where mass, rigidity, and spindle stability matter more than surface finish.
- Resinoid grinding wheels can be supplied for heavy stock-removal or snagging applications.
- Use of resinoid wheels requires higher motor rating and must be specified at the time of ordering.
- Wheel type, motor power, and dust or coolant arrangement should be selected based on grinding intensity and duty cycle.
