Electric Furnaces for Workshop Heat Treatment
Singareni Collieries Co. Ltd, 2 × 600 MW Super Thermal Power Project
Integrated electric furnace configurations for stress relieving, brazing, and controlled melting in power-plant maintenance workshops.
The Operational Problem & Solution Framing
Maintenance workshops require fundamentally different heat-treatment operations-stress relieving, high-temperature brazing, and small batch melting-often within the same shutdown window. Attempting to handle all these with a single furnace leads to compromises in temperature control, handling, safety, or turnaround time.
Parksons approached this by first classifying thermal objectives, not machines. Each furnace was configured independently to suit its specific thermal, handling, and safety requirements.
Configured Furnace Applications
Bogie Hearth Furnace
Stress Relieving
For stress relieving and low-temperature heat treatment of fabricated components requiring uniform heating and controlled soaking.
- Type: Electric resistance-heated
- Heating: Forced air circulation
- Chamber: 1200×1200×1200 mm
- Max Temp: 600 °C
- Load: 75 kW
Box Type Furnace
High-Temp Brazing
For high-temperature brazing and heat treatment of medium-sized components requiring stable soak temperatures.
- Type: Fixed-chamber electric
- Heating: Resistance heating
- Chamber: 1200×1200×1200 mm
- Max Temp: 1200 °C
- Load: 60 kW
Portable Crucible Furnace
Maintenance Melting
Used for small batch melting of non-ferrous metals during reclamation work, where flexibility and controlled pouring are required.
- Type: Electric with manual tilting
- Crucible: SiC / clay graphite
- Chamber: 260×225×140 mm
- Max Temp: 1000 °C
- Load: 31.5 kW
Discuss Your Heat-Treatment Requirements
Early clarification of thermal objectives avoids unsuitable furnace selection later. A short discussion helps define the right configurations, loading methods, and electrical requirements before layouts are frozen.
