Machine Description
Machine Description
- • Double-column plano milling machine designed for machining large, flat surfaces on long or heavy workpieces.
- • Defined by the machining envelope rather than fixed models, with table length, width, and working height configured to suit the component geometry and workshop constraints.
- • Rigid bed, columns, and cross-rail structure engineered to maintain surface flatness and alignment over long table travels.
- • Configurable milling heads (vertical and/or side-mounted) to support sustained material removal across wide surfaces.
- • Suited to heavy duty manufacturing and large fabrication workshops where surface integrity over large spans is critical.

Accuracy
Geometric & Functional Accuracy as per IS: 2877.
Engineering Rationale
- Scale-dependent drive selection: Table drive mechanisms are selected based on stroke length. Ball screws are suitable for shorter travels, while rack and helical pinion drives are adopted for long strokes (typically 7 m and above) to avoid accuracy degradation associated with screw whip.
- Structural scalability: Larger-format machines are not simple extensions of smaller designs. Column sections, cross-rails, and bed structures are reinforced proportionally to maintain alignment and surface flatness over extended spans.
Attachments & Options
- • Multi-Head Configuration: Additional vertical or side milling heads for multi-face machining.
- • Right Angle Attachment: Enables machining of internal or vertical faces without re-clamping.
- • Control Options: Conventional manual control or CNC, depending on profiling requirements.
- • Digital Read Out (DRO): Linear scales for position feedback during manual operation.
Configuration Notes
- 1. Plano milling machines are engineered based on workpiece size, weight, and machining envelope, not supplied as fixed catalogue models.
- 2. Configuration ranges shown are indicative and may be adapted based on load, duty cycle, and workshop layout.
- 3. Accuracy performance is governed by machine size, structure, and application, and is evaluated against IS standards during acceptance.
